More than just temperature
Plus Touch can monitor humidity, ammonia, carbon dioxide, and more. It can then use those conditions to influence how it controls equipment. For example, if the humidity is too high, it can switch heaters on or increase ventilation to reduce it.
VentGridâ„¢ merged ventilation
In addition to traditional staged control, Plus Touch offers VentGrid merged ventilation. Merged mode has up to four steps. The benefit is that merged mode can provide smoother transitions between steps than traditional staged mode can between stages.
Growth and minimum ventilation curves
Growth and ventilation curves are powerful features that allow you to automatically change the temperature set point and minimum ventilation rate over time to adjust to requirements as your animals grow.
Completely programmable in the little as 5 minutes
That’s a bold statement, but Plus Touch is more than a new look and name; it is a completely new user experience. The buttons and LED display have been replaced with a 5-inch touchscreen that allows you to more easily configure, program, and monitor your room and equipment.
Backwards compatible
Plus Touch is backwards compatible with all earlier PEC Plus control (bottom) boards. To upgrade to a Plus Touch and add all the new features, you purchase a display upgrade kit, connect it to your existing PEC Plus control board, and then program your new control.

General
Can the PLUS TOUCH control a misting system?
Yes. The Plus Touch has two zones and six relays It can support two independent misting systems with a total of six control elements. Set them up as a temperature-controlled duty cycles.
Can I control a pump by humidity?
Yes. The Plus Touch controls equipment using temperature as a primary control mode. However, if you set up a cooling relay with a very high temperature set point, it should never turn on from temperature. Then, you can set up secondary modifiers for that relay to switch the pump on and off based on humidity readings. Note that this will require a humidity sensor.
Can I control equipment that requires a 0 to 10 V DC-signal input?
Yes. You can easily connect a VDC-4 (Variable DC Module), which gives you four 0 to10 V DC-signal outputs that you can use to control variable heating and cooling equipment.
Do I need the KPT-DISPLAY or the KPEC-PLUS TOUCH?
The KPEC-PLUS TOUCH kit is for upgrading a PEC-PLUS-RS to a Plus Touch. The KPT-DISPLAY kit is for replacing a damaged display on a Plus Touch.
PEC-PLUS-RS control boards have a large black heatsink (seen here). These require the KPEC-PLUS TOUCH kit. Plus Touch control boards have a small power supply (seen here) instead of the large heatsink. These require the KPT-DISPLAY kit.
How big is the control?
The enclosure is 9 x 7 x 3.75 inches (23 x 18 x 9.5 cm). The heatsink adds an additional 1.25 inches (3.5 cm) to the width.
Installation
How do I set up modifiers?
Modifiers can be found in the menu under Settings. For a complete walkthrough of modifiers, see Programming modifiers in the Plus Touch user manual.
How do I set up a VentGrid (merged ventilation)?
VentGrid splits your ventilation into steps to help create smoother transitions as ventilation increases. For a full walkthrough of programming VentGrid, see Programming merged ventilation in the Plus Touch user manual.
How do I calibrate actuators?
Calibrate actuators by pressing their widget on the home screen and then pressing Calibrate, or by going to their equipment configuration page and pressing Calibrate Actuator.
How do follower relays work?
A follower relay mirrors the stage of the output that it is following. If it is following a relay, then it is on when the other relay is on, and off when it is off. If it is following a variable output, then it is off when the variable output is at 0 percent, and on when it is between 1 and 100 percent.
Troubleshooting
Why is my variable AC fan not turning on?
How do I reset the control to its factory defaults?
Go to the Administration menu and then press Restore Defaults. For more information, see Restoring the factory defaults in the Plus Touch user manual.
How do I save and restore settings?
Insert a USB into the control, go to the Administration menu, and then select either Save Settings or Restore Settings. For more information, see Saving and restoring settings in the Plus Touch user manual.
Why does my variable AC fan perform poorly and have a small operating range?
Some fans motors work better with different fan curves. The Plus Touch has four fan curves to choose from. Go to the configuration screen for the applicable variable stage and then try the other fan curves to find out which one performs the best. For more information, see Appendix F: Motor curves in the Plus Touch user manual.
