Touch Series FAQs

How big are the controls?

The Plus Touch enclosure is 9 x 7 x 3.75 inches (23 x 18 x 9.5 cm). The heatsink adds an additional 1.25 inches (3.5 cm) to the width.

The Supra Touch enclosure is 11.85 x 11 x 3.95 inches (30 x 28 x 10 cm). The heatsink adds an additional 2.5 inches (7 cm) to the width.

Can Touch Series controls measure THI?

The Plus Touch can measure THI. The Supra Touch cannot. Another option for measuring THI is the AutoFlex Connect.

Can I upgrade my PEC Plus to a Plus Touch?

If you have a PEC-PLUS-RS, then you can absolutely upgrade it! The Plus Touch upgrade kit (model KPEC-PLUS-TOUCH) is a display kit that converts a PEC-PLUS-RS to a Plus Touch. Upgrading is as easy as removing the old display, installing the new Plus Touch display, and then reprogramming your control.

Do I need the KPEC-PLUS TOUCH or the KPT-DISPLAY kit?

The KPEC-PLUS TOUCH kit is for upgrading a PEC-PLUS-RS to a Plus Touch. The KPT-DISPLAY kit is for replacing a damaged display on a Plus Touch.

PEC-PLUS-RS control boards have a large black heatsink (seen here). These require the KPEC-PLUS TOUCH kit. Plus Touch control boards have a small power supply (seen here) instead of the large heatsink. These require the KPT-DISPLAY kit.

Can Touch Series controls operate a misting system?

The Supra Touch has 4 zones and 12 relays. It can control 4 independent misting systems with a total of 12 control elements (pumps, sprinklers, etc.). Program the relays as a temperature-controlled duty cycles.

The Plus Touch has 2 zones and 6 relays and can control misting systems the same as the Supra Touch. The Plus Touch also has more-advanced evaporative cooling control with three different modes for controlling sprinklers / misters, fans, and pumps.

Can I control a pump by humidity?

Yes. Touch Series controls use temperature as a primary control mode. However, if you set up a cooling relay with a very high temperature set point, it should never switch on from temperature. Then, you can set a secondary modifier for that relay to switch the pump on and off based on humidity readings. Note that this will require a humidity sensor.

Can I control equipment that requires a 0 to 10 V DC-signal input?

Yes. You can easily connect a VDC-4 (Variable DC Module), which gives you four 0 to10 V DC-signal outputs that you can use to control variable heating and cooling equipment.
