Variable Fan Control
Model: FC-1T-1VAC
Variable Fan Control
Model: FC-1T-1VAC
A simple and effective temperature controller
The FC-1T-1VAC allows you to automatically control ventilation fans according to the ambient temperature.
How it works
- When the temperature is at the temperature set point, the FC-1T-1VAC operates the fans at the idle speed setting.
- When the temperature exceeds the set point, it increases the speed.
- When the temperature increases 6°F above the set point, it increases the speed to maximum.
- When the temperature drops below the set point, it shuts off the fans (in shut-off mode), or operates the fans at the idle speed (idle mode).
The FC-1T-1VAC is ideal for poultry, livestock, greenhouse, or light industrial buildings.
Temperature Sensors
Additional temperature sensors allow you to use 4-zone temperature averaging. Probes are available several lengths and can be extended up to 500 feet using extension cable.
General
Does this replace the MTC-4C?
Yes, it is a direct replacement for the MTC-4C.
What is the variable stage rating?
10 A at 120/230 VAC, general-purpose (resistive)
7 FLA at 120/230 VAC, PSC motor
1/2 HP at 120 VAC, 1 HP at 230 VAC, PSC motor
How many fans can it control?
The limiting factor is the variable stage rating. Add up the current draw of the fans you want to control and compare it to the variable stage rating. If the combined fans draw less than the variable stage rating then you can control them.
Can I increase the range over which the fan speeds up?
No. The fan will speed up from either a full stop (shut-off mode) or whatever the idle speed is (idle mode) over a 6°F range until it reaches full speed.
Can it be set up to have a fan continually running?
Yes. Set the jumper for idle mode and ensure that the idle speed is set how you want it. See the user manual for more information.
How big is the control?
The enclosure is 4.75 x 7.80 x 3.75 in. (12 x 15.6 x 9.5 cm) The switch and knob add an additional 0.75 in. (1.9 cm) to the depth.
Installation
What is the difference between Shut-off and Idle modes?
In Shut-off mode, the control shuts off the fan when the temperature is below the set point. In Idle mode, the fan runs at the idle speed when the temperature is below the set point.
Troubleshooting
Why does my fan stop when in idle mode?
The idle mode setting may be too low. Turn the Temperature knob fully clockwise. Turn the Idle Speed knob to the minimum fan speed desired. Turn the Temperature knob to the desired temperature.
