Light Dimmer Box
Model: LDB
Light Dimmer Box
Model: LDB
Flicker-free lighting control for a variety of applications
The Light Dimmer Box is designed around its easy-to-use functionality and ability to control AC or DC-powered LED, CFL, or incandescent lights.
Fully configurable lighting program
You can configure the lighting program to run for up to 365 days. The lighting programs consist of events and schedules. An event is a change in light output at a specific time. A schedule is a group of days that have the same events.
Benefits of a properly controlled lighting system
Variable Load Expansion Box
Variable Load Expansion Boxes increase the load capacity of the control's variable stage. Installation is simple and there is no additional configuration required; all Expansion Boxes follow the settings of the master control.
DOL16 Light Sensor
The DOL16 measures light intensity in two different ranges: 0 to 100 and 0 to 1000 lux.
LDB Settings Saver
The LDB Saver is an innovative and easy-to-use product that allows you to store all your Light Dimmer Box configuration and settings. You can restore them at any time, or use the LDB Saver to set up new controls in seconds.
LDB Firmware updater
The LDB Updater allows you to upgrade the firmware of LDB controls. The LDB Updater takes only seconds to use and can upgrade all LDB controls at your site.
General
How big is the control?
The enclosure is 9 x 7 x 3.75 inches (23 x 18 x 9.5 cm). The heatsink adds an additional 1.25 inches (3.5 cm) to the width.
Does it have a manual override?
Yes. There is a software manual override that can be accessed from the LDB’s menu. For more information see Manual override in the user manual.
What is the relay for?
The relay is a “follower relay”. It follows the output of the variable stage. If the variable stage is off, the relay is off. If the variable stage is at 1 to 100 percent output, the relay is on. The LDB has this feature because some dimmable lights are not completely off at 0 percent. The follower relay breaks the circuit and switches off the lights completely.
Can I expand the load capacity of the LDB?
Yes. The VLX-20 is a variable AC expansion box that allows you to expand the capacity of your LDB. The VLX-20 will follow the programming of the LDB. Note that it must be connected to the same phase of power as the LDB in three-phase systems.
How many lights can the LDB control?
It depends on the maximum current that the lights will draw. Refer to the technical specifications of the lights to find the maximum current draw. Divide the LDB’s variable stage rating by the maximum draw of the lights to determine how many of them the LDB can control.
Variable AC
20 A at 120/230 VAC, general-purpose (resistive)
2300 W at 120 VAC, 4600 W at 230 VAC
Variable DC
0 to 10 V, 50 Ω, 200 mA
Installation
Do variable AC lights need to be on the same phase as the control?
Yes. If the variable AC lights and the control are on different phases the lights will operate erratically.
Troubleshooting
What does the “Check light sensor” error mean?
This error means the control is not seeing a valid reading from the light sensor. Usually, this is a sensor or wiring problem that needs to be fixed.
